Karad City is situated on the confluence of Krishna and Koyna river. Also the Samadhi of Late Yeshvantrao Chavan ( the then Dy. Prime Minister of India) is built on the banks of river Krishna near the confluence. Some of the well known places are Krishnamai Temple, high minarets. The ancient Buddhist caves in the hills of Aagashiva are near karad.
